Tanzeel Zia, Property Manager, Western Corridor, UK
“Since joining SEGRO, I have always felt included. I’ve never felt like I’m not part of the team or unable to share my ideas.
SEGRO is a very inclusive place where we respect one another regardless of identity, background, or faith. As a Muslim, faith is central to my life, guiding me through values such as integrity, respect, compassion, and fulfilling responsibilities with honesty.
These values are mirrored in SEGRO’s culture, including ‘Say It Like It Is’ and ‘Stand Side-by-Side,’ making me feel supported and valued. During Ramadan, my team, manager, and senior managers went out of their way to accommodate me, offering work-from-home options and early finishes on some Fridays. This thoughtful approach made a significant difference during my fasting.
By raising awareness and celebrating events, SEGRO creates opportunities for conversations to happen naturally and for colleagues to learn from one another, fostering an inclusive and collaborative environment.”

Alex Keith, Director, London
“As a business we are adapting and changing, making it easier for those starting a family or adding to their family in the future.
Our business has built a positive culture of giving trust and support to our people, especially where there is a need to juggle the dual lives of family and work. Having introduced new family friendly policies these are both a powerful tool for attracting and retaining talent, as well as enabling individuals to balance personal challenges like childcare, whilst continuing to deliver results.
If the set-up is right, it is demonstrably easier for families to manage. The more we shine a light on good practice, the more we are going to enable parents to want to come back from parental leave, knowing they are supported in what they want to do and have the flexibility to manage their time and personal commitments.”

Alex McElrea, Associate Director, Strategic Programmes
“It has been great to work with leaders across the business on our strategic priorities. Not only have I been able to broaden my relationships with colleagues across the Group, but I have been able to work more closely with our Executive team and learn about the workings of a FTSE 50 business as well as our Joint Ventures, SELP, Data Centres and Energy strategy.
My previous role has allowed me to drive our strategic programme forward. By understanding how the operational elements of the business work, it allows me to contribute in how we make sure new initiatives land well with our colleagues and we get the communications right.
The other area of this role have been completely new for me as I get to work closely on our Energy strategy whilst we look to evolve this in the near future. It is very technical and will influence the business moving forward which has been interesting to be involved in and a great opportunity to learn.
I’ve had several great moments in the new role, one being presenting to our board about the progress of our strategic priorities. It has been great to see the progress over the last year and looking at how we take these forwards to deliver something tangible”

“Becoming a parent has been an incredible experience, and I am grateful for SEGRO's unwavering support throughout this journey.
Sharing my experiences with other parents upon returning to the office has made this life-changing transition much more manageable, fun, and I would even consider the dads at SEGRO a family of its own.”

“I am grateful for SEGRO's support in helping me pursue my CIPD Level 5 Associate Diploma in People Management; securing this qualification has been instrumental in both my personal and professional growth.
This gesture of investment towards my future makes me feel more committed to contribute to the success of my colleagues, and the business as a whole. Now, as an Associate Member of the CIPD, I hope that my learnings will help me progress through my career in a way that is truly meaningful to me.”

Charles Goulding, Assistant Manager, Group Data Centres
“When I saw that our Group Data Centre team was advertising a secondment for someone with a finance background, I was keen to apply. Not only did it give me the opportunity to use my current skillset but provided me the opportunity to learn more about strategy, and our property business, especially Data Centres which offers a huge opportunity for us at SEGRO.
This role has provided me the opportunity to work in a group position, meaning I have been able to work with some of our teams across Continental Europe on local projects and travel to some of our sites across Europe. Not only have I got a better understanding of the operational elements of our business, but it has given me the opportunity to develop technical and softer skills such as financial modelling and my communication skills.
From this experience I have developed a well-rounded skill set in areas which I may not have had the opportunity in my previous role. Looking to the future, this secondment has provided me with knowledge and skills that will be helpful moving forwards.”

Luc Griffiths, Property Business Executive, France
“I wanted to develop my technical knowledge and understanding of Investment and Development matters having specialised in Asset Management since qualification. Not only did the secondment offer this, it allowed the opportunity to gain European exposure through working with a variety of colleagues on various projects from across the Group. It has been fantastic to build market knowledge as well as my internal and external network throughout our European markets.
It has been great to diversify and build on my skillset. I now appreciate the drivers of various performance metrics surrounding Investment and Development – and when building this knowledge on top my Asset Management skillset, it has unlocked a ‘bigger picture’ view of Real Estate.
Not only have I been able to sharpen my skills in financial analysis and modelling, development appraisals and owning processes surrounding Investment Committee approvals, but I have been able to live and work overseas. The prospect of living in Paris for a year, a fantastic city renowned for its architecture, art, cuisine, and fashion – the ability to learn French – were all things that my family and I viewed as such an incredible opportunity, and one which we have really enjoyed.”
