Did you know we reduced operating carbon emissions by...
We have been reducing the operational carbon emissions from our warehouses, which includes those made by the activities of our customers operating within them. We work hard on our Responsible SEGRO commitments to champion low-carbon growth and be a net-zero carbon business by 2030.
How we reduce our carbon emissions
- We have been moving our controlled portfolio onto renewable energy tariffs over the past years and in 2021 we moved the last major contracts, in Poland and Czech Republic, onto Green tariffs, which means that all SEGRO controlled electricity is now zero-carbon.
- We are engaging with our customers and trying to positively influence them in terms of reducing carbon emissions. We are also increasingly requiring customers to use renewable energy within the terms of their leases to ensure that our portfolio carbon footprint improves.
- We are making improvements to the carbon footprint of our portfolio through the ongoing maintenance and refurbishment of our warehouses. When the opportunity arises, we refurbish our assets and upgrade their sustainability credentials before letting them to a new customer. Changes that we make include installing LED lighting, solar panels, air source heat pumps and smart metering. We aim to have the entire portfolio at least an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) of a B rating or equivalent.
